We try to place as many
ferrets directly into their new homes, as possible. When it becomes
necessary for a ferret to enter our shelter, they go through a process to
prepare them for their new home.
All ferrets receive a general assessment to identify the state of their
health. They are treated with Albon to make certain they are not
carrying coccidia, which is an intestinal parasite. They are checked
for ear mites and fleas, and treated if necessary.
If they are not current on Canine Distemper vaccinations, they are brought
up to date. Rabies vaccinations can be given by special arrangement
for an additional charge of $10/ferret to cover the cost.
Medical issues such as adrenal tumors, insulinoma, and skin tumors are taken
care of to the degree possible. We try to find foster homes for
ferrets that are not considered adoptable due to serious health issues that
can't be corrected.
Adoption fees are based on the age and health of the ferret or group.
Older ferrets or groups will adopt for less than the younger ones.
There is a discount for adoptions of pairs, trios and four-packs. We
do not separate bonded cagemates.
You are welcome to visit the shelter to meet our ferrets. We operate
by appointments; we try to meet your schedule as much as possible.
Directions to the shelter are available when you schedule your appointment.
The shelter does not adopt to minors. Since a contract is signed at
adoption, there needs to be a parent or responsible adult that is willing to
be the adopting party.
If you have any questions, please email the shelter at
julie_fossa@yahoo.com.
Thank you.
